Chemistry and Biochemistry

Our Department has 6 teaching areas: analytical, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistries along with biochemistry and chemistry education research. The Department has identified three major research focus areas: biophysics, materials/nanotechnology, and chemistry education research. Our faculty members are involved in a range of interdisciplinary efforts with faculty in other departments at Miami and at other institutions. While not a small teaching college or a huge state university, Miami is in the "sweet spot" where we offer a personal in the classroom education with opportunities to do cutting-edge research on state-of-the-art instrumentation.
