Awards Ceremony and Reception for the WInners of the 2019 Miami University Young Sculptors Competition for the $10,000 William and Dorothy Yeck Award

Year 2019: Non-Representational Sculpture only
Young Sculptors, U.S. residents, ages 25 – 35 as of competition entry are invited to participate in a biennial juried competition for the 2019 $10, 000 William and Dorothy Yeck Award. Entrants should have achieved a significant degree of success as an emerging artist of noteworthy talent. The winner will become part of the Miami University Young Sculptors of the Twenty-First Century Collection.
2019: Don Desmett, Founding Director of Exhibitions for the Richmond Center, Curator, and Writer, Kalamazoo, Michigan
Don Desmett was Founding Director of Exhibitions for the Richmond Center for Visual Arts at Western Michigan University (2006-2016). From 2000 to 2004 Desmett was Director of Collections and Exhibitions at The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts (again as Interim Curator from 2018/19). He also served as Director and Curator of The Tyler Galleries at the Tyler School of Art, Temple University in Philadelphia (1990-98).
