DESCRIPTION:Register Here\n\nRegistration closes at 10:00 a.m. EDT on Septe
mber 1.\n\nPresenter: Gregg Wentzell\n\nThis session focuses on using midc
ourse evaluation tools to evaluate the degree to which components of a cou
rse facilitate student learning. Administering these tools relatively earl
y and then later in a semester allows the instructor to collect student da
ta\, instructionally respond to it\, and evaluate the efficacy of such res
ponses. Not only can midcourse evaluation improve courses for students\, i
t can also serve faculty seeking advancement by generating data that can b
e used to document efforts to improve teaching effectiveness. Participants
will discuss midcourse evaluation considerations and learn about the tool
s they could use for a course they are teaching this semester. Note: Compu
ter access (not smartphone only) is required for this session.\n\nGregg We
ntzell is Assistant Director of the CTE. He earned his Ph.D. in English at
Miami in 1993 and was awarded the Sinclair Fellowship. He has over 20 yea
rs of college teaching and faculty development experience and co-facilitat
es the New Faculty Teaching Enhancement Program (NFTEP). In addition to be
ing Director of the Original Lilly Conference on College Teaching\, Gregg
does faculty consulting on teaching and coordinates the CTE's seminar prog
ramming and administration of Midcourse Assessment for the University. He
is Editor-in Chief of the Journal on Excellence in College Teaching and th
e Learning Communities Journal. He presents faculty development seminars o
n-campus and at teaching and learning conferences. He has participated in
and provides support for Miami's faculty learning communities.
