Akhil Reed Amar is a Sterling Professor of Law and Political Science at Yale University. A member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, he has written for publications including “The New York Times,” “The Washington Post,” “The Wall Street Journal,” “The National Review,” “Time,” “Slate,” and “The Atlantic.” He was a consultant to the TV show, “The West Wing,” and has been showcased on many broadcasts.
The author of more than a hundred law articles and many books, Amar’s most ambitious book, “The Words That Made Us: America’s Constitutional Conversation, 1760-1840,” unites history and law in a vivid narrative of the constitutional questions early Americans faced and why they matter today.
