The Miami University Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Ricardo Averbach, presents "Miami’s Got Talent", a concert  showcasing the extraordinary artistry of Miami University students, featuring standout solo performances by the winners of Miami's 2026 Concerto Competition, along with some of the most beloved works in the orchestral repertoire. 

The program features: 

Aaron Copland's "Fanfare for the Common Man."  This work holds special meaning for the MUSO: Copland was once Composer-in-Residence at Miami University and personally conducted a concert of his music with the orchestra. "Fanfare" was written specifically for the CIncinnati Symphony Orchestra, where it has long been a signature work. 

2026 Miami University Concerto Competition Winners: 

• Jack Nomina, senior Mechanical Engineering and Music Performance (Oboe) double major, will perform Eugene Goossens' "Oboe Concerto in One Movement."  Goossens served as music director of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. 
• Alice Ryan, first-year graduate student in Music Performance, will perform the fourth movement of Elgar's "Cello Concerto in E minor, Op. 85."
• Jia Ying Yap, graduate student in Music Performance, will perform Mozart's "Piano Concerto No. 23 in A Major, K.488 (first movement)".

Tchaikovsky's "Romeo and Juliet: Fantasy-Overture" will close the concert.
