Week of Service and Reflection Events:

4:30 p.m., Oxford Uptown Parks: Community Silent March with the Delta Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

  • The Silent March will begin at the Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Uptown Oxford with select speakers from the Miami campus and Oxford communities for commemoration and reflection. The march will end at the Armstrong Student Center, Wilks Theatre for the MLK Keynote Speaker.

5:30 p.m., Wilks Theater: Join us in a celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

  • A reception and  keynote address by Anastasia Curwood, professor and chair of History and director, Commonwealth Institute for Black Studies, University of Kentucky, on  “Shirley Chisholm and the Black Freedom Struggle: Protest and Politics after 1968." Light refreshments will be served.

These events are part of the Week of Service and Reflection sponsored by the Office of Transformational and Inclusive Excellence and the Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion, to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. 

Canned food donation station will be available at ASC - Wilks Theater during the Keynote event.
