Oxford Community Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration: "Meaningful Dialogue Across Differences"

  • Art exhibition viewing 10-10:30 a.m. * Artwork will be seleted by a panel of judges ffor each grade level from entries by K-12 students in the Talawanda School District reflecting the student’s original ideas and/or feelings about the inspiration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and/or other civil rights activists, and human rights in general. 
  • Program 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Sponsored by the Oxford NAACP and the City of Oxford; Art Exposition is supported by the Talawanda School District, the McGuffey Montessori School, Miami University, and Oxford Lane Library.

The Miami University community will recognize Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Jan. 29, during the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Week of Service and Reflection events held the first week of Spring Semester. 

A Community Silent March with the Delta Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. will begin at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at the Oxford Uptown Parks, followed by a reception at the Shriver Center to celebrate the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This event will include a commitment to service recognition and a keynote address by Judy Alston.
