"Friend of a Friend" is about ways that older adults can make friendships within Oxford

"Friend of a Friend"  was created by students in the "How to Make a Movie"  class taught by Gerontology doctoral student Samuel Van Vleet. The class was taught through Miami's Institute for Learning in Retirement (ILR).

"All of my students are retired Oxford community members (and some Miami alumni). Most of my students are veterans. The goal of the class was to have the students come together to create an original short film. We spent the class learning about pre-production and we mapped out our film. After the class ended the students and I worked together to make the film," Van Vleet said.

An invitation-only reception and a Q&A with the student filmmakers at 7 p.m.. AARP is involved and will be setting up a national virtual premiere of the film with an additional Q&A with the students.
