MICHAEL TORRES is the author of the poetry book An Incomplete List of Names, which was selected for the National Poetry Series and named one of NPR’s Best Books of 2020.

Of the book, Juan Felipe Herrera, the 21st poet laureate of the United States says: “Michael Torres gives us an uncharted and ‘incomplete,’ ever-flaming matrix of being and becoming a brown man, a person in an unknown America. Incredible, truth-fisted, shattering, groundbreaking.”

Michael Torres has received fellowships and awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, and The Loft Literary Center for the Mirrors & Windows Program. A former Artist-in-Residence at the Camargo Foundation in Cassis, France, he is currently a 2021-22 Jerome Hill Artist Fellow.

Hosted by the Creative Writing Program and the English Department, this event is part of the 2021-2022 Marianne D. McComb Reading Series on race, craft and the imagination.
