ENG 134/440: Shakespeare on-stage, on-site w/ Dr Kaara Peterson
Discover Shakespeare on-stage, on-site! See his plays where they were originally performed in London! New and exciting productions await us on the London stage, at cutting-edge venues such as The Bridge and Iris Theatres, paired with classic performance spaces of the Barbican, National Theatre, Old Vic, and Globe Theatres.
ENG/WGS 237: Queer Brit Lit w/ Dr James Bromley
Explore Queer London’s 2000-year+ history! Our London class looks at the city’s ever-changing ideas of identity through its literary cultures and eras, ranging from the hot debates about cross-dressing in Shakespeare’s theaters, to the Oscar Wilde “indecency” trial, to literary responses to the devastation of AIDS in 80’s London.
ENG 327/490: Monsters & Marvels of Medieval Literature w/ Dr Patrick Murphy
Medieval literature is haunted by marvelous beings, from the twisted creatures of Old English riddle-poetry to the goblinlike glow of Sir Gawain's Green Knight; the shape-shifting werewolves of Anglo-Norman romance; and the writhing, hall-wrecking monsters of the Iron Age's original game of thrones. Where better to discover these enigmatic beings than in London’s treasure-trove of world-famous medieval sites and exhibits?
