HCWE Summer Writing Hours

By popular demand, Writing Hours will carry on throughout the summer of 2021.  You can schedule regular weekly time to write on your own, or virutally with others, on Thursdays, 1:00PM–4:00PM and Fridays, 8:30AM–12:00PM.

Here's how to participate:

  • On Thursday afternoons or Friday mornings, sign in with this Google Sheet and state your goal.

  • If you want to write with others, you can open or join the Google Meet virtual room via the link in the Google Sheet. Please turn off your audio and introduce yourself to others using the chat. It's up to you whether you'd like to have your video on or not.

  • Come and go as you like. When you do finish up for the day, update your accomplishments on the Google Sheet.

  • If you need any assistance, contact the HCWE staff member listed at the top of the Google Sheet. Please note: a response may take some time.

Beyond the synchronous approach outlined above,  you might also engage with Writing Hours on an asynchronous basis. Add your name and writing goals to the Google Sheet at any time during the week as a means for accountability. Better yet, invite some colleagues and write together in the Google Meet room on a regular basis. Anyone with a Miami e-mail address can host the room. Regular writing time, especially with other people, is a proven method to make progress and finish projects
