Fantastic Free Fridays: Miami University Collegiate Chorale
This performance will feature the Miami University Choraliers in a program of sacred and secular works in a diverse array of styles. Conducted by William Bausano, the Director of Choral Studies at Miami, the group was established in 1908 as the Miami University Women's Choral Society. The ensemble has grown from an informal, 25-member society into a premier women's chorus composed of singers representing majors from every division in the university.
In February 2014 the Choraliers presented the world premiere performance of a new work composed by Ola Gjeilo, a musical setting of a text written in the Myaamia language. In the past ten years, the Choraliers have toured to Australia, Fiji, Greece, Ireland, Italy, and Scotland. In May 2014 they toured Italy and Austria.
