Presenter: Britt Cole, Nursing
Have you experienced a student struggling with a mental health concern that is impacting their ability to learn and succeed? Do you know how to help? Are there teaching strategies that can not only help students who are struggling but help all students be mentally well? This seminar will define the mental health issues facing higher education and discuss the various issues that affect the minds of our students (i.e., depression, anxiety, trauma, etc.). Session participants will learn how to recognize a student who might be struggling and will explore caring strategies based in pedagogy to attend and promote mental wellness. Lastly, we will explore ways to help our students better understand their own mental health and wellness and offer tools they can use to become "Mindfully Well." These strategies will work for both F2F and remote courses.
