DESCRIPTION:Hiestand Galleries invites the campus and community to celebrat
e the opening of two new exhibitions—In The Making and Total Body Burden
 —with a joint reception on Thursday\, Oct. 16\, from 4:15-5:15 p.m. in t
he Hiestand Galleries lobby. The evening continues with an artist talk by
Laurie Hogin at 5:50 p.m. in ART 100\, offering audiences a deeper look in
 to her decades-spanning artistic journey.\n\nIn The Making - Oct. 16 – N
ov. 6\, 2025\n\nThis exhibition showcases the evolving work of Miami Unive
 rsity’s Master of Fine Arts candidates—Hannah Bays\, De-Graft Boateng\
, Bubly Barna\, Noelle Hemrich\, Emmanuel Osei Bonsu\, and Fatemeh Shekarf
aroush.\n\nEach piece in In The Making captures a moment of transformation
—where ideas take form\, identities are explored\, and new meanings emer
ge. The exhibition offers a rare glimpse into the creative process itself\
, highlighting the tension between what is known and what is yet to be dis
covered.\n\nVisitors are invited to meet the artists during the reception
on Oct. 16\, celebrating the dynamic perspectives and experimental energy
that define Miami’s MFA program.\n\n___________\n\nLaurie Hogin: Total B
 ody Burden - Oct. 16 – Nov. 6\, 2025\n\nIn Total Body Burden\, acclaimed
artist Laurie Hogin combines classical painting techniques with the vivid
language of contemporary culture. Through surreal animal allegories and r
ichly symbolic imagery\, Hogin examines how stories—myths\, media\, scie
nce\, and politics—shape our understanding of the world and ourselves.\n
\nFollowing the joint reception\, Hogin will present an artist lecture tit
led “Wild Things: Monkey Brains\, Mad Bunnies\, and Other Mutants” at
5:50 p.m. in ART 100\, where she will discuss her creative strategies\, sy
mbolism\, and three decades of work exploring the intersections of emotion
 \, meaning\, and representation.\n\nVisit the Galleries\n\nBoth exhibition
s are free and open to the public in Hiestand Galleries\, Hiestand Hall\,
 401 Maple Street\, Oxford\, OH 45056.\n\nGallery hours: Monday–Friday\,
 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Hours may vary\; appointments available.)\nFor more i
