About this Event
221 High Street, Hamilton, OH 45011
#entertainmentRichard Piland’s presentation describes many of the activities county residents had available to them for entertainment 100 years ago in 1922. Activities in their homes, churches and organizations played an important part in entertaining people. Outside the home, however, residents could see a world class circus, attend performances of Grand Operas, hear nationally known orators such as William Jennings Bryan (three-time candidate for President of the United States) during the Hamilton Chautauqua, and take in the events of the 72nd annual Butler County Fair. The presentation also highlights some of the wonderful silent movies that featured the finest film stars of the day including Rudolph Valentino, Mary Pickford, Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd, Will Rogers, Tom Mix, and Brownie, the Wonder Dog.
