McGuffey House and Museum’s monthly program will be held at 3 p.m. March 7 in the Auditorium of the Richard and Carole Cocks Art Museum, 801 S. Patterson Avenue, Oxford.
 
The featured speaker will be Dr. Sara Butler.  Her talk is titled The Language of Dress: The McGuffeys and HepburnsBy studying correspondence, contemporary portraits and photographs, Butler will examine the making and wearing of clothing worn by two of the most prominent families associated with Oxford and Miami University. Mens, womens and childrens fashions over a span of 100 years will be highlighted.
 
Sara Butler is a retired Professor of Art at Miami where she taught History of Costume for over 20 years.  She is currently on the Board of Trustees of the Butler County Historical Society and is the volunteer curator of the extensive costume collection there. She also serves on the Institute for Retirement Board and is Vice-Chair of the Curriculum Committee.  Her Ph.D. is from Michigan State University in Textiles and Clothing.
