Dance Theatre’s eclectic style continues to include elements of many dance forms—from modern to contemporary to jazz. The concert features music that ranges from contemporary such as Beyoncé to performance artist Laurie Anderson.
Joanna Kotze, a New York based choreographer and dancer, graduated with a BA in Architecture from Miami University in 1998 and is a Dance Theatre alumna. She returned to Miami this February to set her fourteenth piece on Dance Theatre, "What it takes."
Liza Torrence, a 2017 Miami graduate and Dance Theatre alum, returns for her fourth year as a guest choreographer, her 9th dance for the Company. "LEGACY "is a contemporary work to music by Beyoncé that portrays the relationship between a mother and child.
Izzy Bielamowicz returned to set her second work for the company as a guest choreographer. "in between" explores the cycle of resentment. in between is set to music by Daughter, Oh Wonder, and Noah Kahan and the lyrics drive the emotion of the piece.
Angelina Silvestri, a senior Architecture major and a General Business minor, is from Lincolnshire, IL. Her dance, She Lives Within, is set to Raury's “Her” and “Hundred Water's Firelight.”
Annabella Papson is a sophomore , studying Arts Management and Entrepreneurship with a minor in Dance. Her first piece for Dance Theatre, Everything Must Change is set to two pieces of music, “Adios” by Benjamin Clementine and “Everything Must Change” by Nina Simone.
Livia Zuesi is a sophomore Accountancy major and Arts Entrepreneurship minor from Columbus, OH. Her dance, Apricity, is set to "This Bitter Earth / On the Nature of Daylight" by Dinah Washington & Max Richter.
Rose Kurutz is a sophomore Strategic Communications and Arts Management major with a minor in theater arts. Her choreographic work was recently featured at the American College Dance Association conference. Her piece "CRASH !", is set to three pieces of music by the artists Laurie Anderson, Air, and Cornelius.
