Dance Theatre’s eclectic style continues to include elements of many dance forms—from modern to contemporary to jazz. The concert features music that ranges from contemporary such Chloe X Halle to minimalist Philip Glass.
Guest choreographer Liza Torrence, a 2017 Miami graduate and Dance Theatre alum, has set her third dance as a guest, her 8th for the Company. The Kids Are(n’t) Alright is a contemporary work choreographed to music by Chloe x Halle.
Guest choreographer and Dance Theatre alumna Kendall Nelson graduated from Miami in 2018. So close so far is the third dance she has set on the Company, set to “The Dance” by Charlotte Martin.
Dance Theatre President Genáe Yeldell, a senior Middle Childhood Education major, with Math and Language Arts concentrations, and a Dance minor from Dayton, OH, choregraphed I am not her, she is me with spoken text, curated and performed by eight artists, and music composed by Dustin O’Halloran.
Margaret Blair, senior from River Forest, IL, is majoring in Kinesiology and Biology with the Pre-Medical Co-Major, choreographed These Are the Days is set to the music “Knee 5,” by Philip Glass Ensemble.
Cameron Barczyk is a fourth-year architecture major from Columbus, OH choreographed Get a Grip, Barczyk’s with music by Ludovico Einaudi.
Angelina Silvestri, a junior Architecture major and General Business minor from Chicago, IL, has choreographed Reveries in Isolation using music by Ezio Bosso and Son Lux.
The Cheezies will also perform.
