Spencer Topel, CTO, Moth Quantum

Trace a trajectory that began in music composition and wound through synthesizers, sound art, hardware electronics, and coding before arriving at a launch of the first quantum computing platform built for the creative arts and media.

Spencer Topel is a technologist and entrepreneur working at the intersection of quantum computing, robotics, and embedded systems. As CTO of Moth Quantum, he leads engineering for quantum software tools built for creative industries, and as Co-founder of Electron Robotics, he designs AI-driven systems for industrial automation. His technical roots trace to Physical Synthesis, where he developed acoustic actuation hardware, and to the Yale Quantum Institute, where he built a hardware- software interface translating superconducting qubit states into audio signals. A former Dartmouth professor, Topel holds degrees from Cornell and Juilliard, with work exhibited at Lincoln Center and MoMA.
