About this Event
221 High Street, Hamilton, OH 45011
Join Brian Smith, Executive Director of the Butler County Historical Society as he details road travel in the county from its earliest days as native trails up to today's highways. Learn of the first state roads that crossed the area in Ohio's infancy and how privately owned turnpikes helped create a commerce boom in the early to mid-19th century. From Arthur St. Clair's troops to filling in and paving over the Miami and Erie Canal to the current explosion of roundabouts in the area, the history of our roadways is a fascinating method of looking at the growth and development of our county and its communities.
