Arts Symposium for All:

"Breaking Bad: Moving Toward Transformation Through the Arts" 

Artists/Educators  will present workshops in their respective fields and participate in a panel discussion. Presentations and Workshops will include: Jazz studies/American music, graphic design/commercial art, fine art, arts education, traditional West African Dance. Sessions are open to the entire student body and are Free of Charge. The day will culminate with a panel discussion open to students, faculty, staff, and the Oxford community. The project takes place over a 2-day period.

  • Thursday February 20: "Jazz: America's Quintessential Music" by Dr. Ted McDaniel, specialist in Jazz music and history, in Shriver Center Heritage Room.

Friday Sessions include:

Larry Winston Collins: "Exploring Collage Illustrations" Workshop (Space is limited) 10 a.m.-Noon, Art Building 016

Dr. Vesta Daniel: "Moving Counternarratives Forward Through Art: Escape from the Footnote" 1 p.m. Hiestand 200

Dr.  Ted McDaniel: "The Business of Music"  2:3- p.m. Hiestand 200

Goree Drum and Dance: Traditional West Aftrican Dance Class 4:30 p.m., CPA 120
