 elcome Indigenous writer\, producer\, and director Sterlin Harjo on Wednes
 day February 8\, 2023 to present the A. T. Hansen Lecture in Anthropology.
 \n\nSterlin Harjo (Seminole/Muscogee) is an award winning filmmaker from H
 oldenville\, Oklahoma. He is a co-creator\, co-writer\, and showrunner for
  "Reservation Dogs" on Hulu\, one of the highest rated and critically accl
 aimed television shows of the last few years. He will discuss his career i
 n television and film\, with an emphasis on his experiences as an Indigeno
 us writer\, producer\, and director. Harjo’s career includes producing i
 ndependent films\, documentaries\, televisions shows\, and short-film proj
 ects depicting the experiences of American Indians in Oklahoma where he gr
 ew up. He is also one of the co-founders of The 1491s\, an Indigenous come
 dy group whose name references the year before Christopher Columbus landed
  in what are now called the Americas.\n\nReservation Dogs is one of severa
 l Indigenous focused TV shows and movies that have debuted in the last few
  years and is written and directed by Indigenous people with a predominant
 ly Indigenous cast. Following its first season “Reservation Dogs” won 
 a 2022 Peabody award\, 2022 Television Academy Honors award\, 2022 Indepen
 dent Spirit Award for Best Comedy Series\, was an American Film Institute 
 Awards Honoree\, and won Best  breakthrough Series under 40 minutes at the
  2021 Gotham Awards. Seasons 1 and 2 of  Reservation Dogs are currently st
 reaming on Hulu with Season 3 set to begin filming in March and scheduled
