Presenter: Mark Dahlquist, Humanities and Social Sciences Librarian

Are you interested in developing assignments that involve the creation of video, or in creating and editing video yourself? This session will provide a hands-on introduction to WeVideo, a cloud-based video editing tool that is now available at Miami. Similar to iMovie and Adobe Premier, WeVideo is a full-featured video editing tool; unlike other video editors, WeVideo can be accessed online using any computer or phone, and can be set up to support course-based group video creating projects.

Workshop participants will learn how to capture and edit video, and how to add transitions, captions, and other video and audio effects. We will also consider some assignments developed by Miami faculty that engage student creativity through video creation.

Mark Dahlquist is a Humanities and Social Sciences Librarian and subject-area liaison to the departments of English and Media, Journalism & Film. He has research intersts in information literacy and creativity, digital humanities, and the literature of the long English Reformation. His MLIS and Ph.D. are both from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
