Auditions for Fall Semester 2019
The Department of Theatre is looking to cast roles for two productions
When We Get Good Again
by James McLindon
Production Dates: October 2nd - October 6th, 2019
Synopsis: Poor but brilliant college student Tracy needs straight A’s to get into a top law school that will forgive her mountain of debt as well as help her toward her ambition to become a lawyer for the poor. With the economic odds stacked against her, she tries to rationalize her job writing terms papers for other wealthy students, including Roy, a lazy hockey player and Nadiya, a Ukrainian student deficient in English. But she’s not sure she can do it.
When We Get Good Again explores the current age in which personal integrity seems to erode before our eyes, and each day seems to bring new headlines about presidents who lie as naturally as breathe, politicians caught padding their resumes, or journalists discovered making up the people they’ve been writing and winning awards about. In a world of privilege and deprivation, how immoral is cheating when done to level a playing field that is already supposed to be flat? When We Get Good Again Character Breakdown
She Kills Monsters
by Qui Nguyen
Production Dates: November 20th - November 24th, 2019
Synopsis: A comedic romp into the world of fantasy role-playing games, She Kills Monsters tells the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home in Ohio following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook, however, she stumbles into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was Tilly’s refuge. In this high-octane dramatic comedy laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres, and 90s pop culture, acclaimed young playwright Qui Nguyen offers a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all.
